Terms and conditions
Last updated: 11 October 2026.
These terms describe how the English lessons of Marcus English Institute (MEI) work. MEI is a brand of MB Training Group LLC, a US-registered limited liability company (State of Wyoming) that offers its services globally, with a team working from different parts of the world (“MEI”, “we”). These terms also apply to the use of this website and of MyMEI, the student area. Contact: hello@marcusenglishinstitute.com.
The website doesn't sell lessons. The service starts only with the contract you sign after the first call: it contains all the conditions that apply to you and, where it differs from this page, it prevails.
1. What we offer
- Individual lessons: one student, the same Cambridge CELTA-qualified MEI tutor, on the same day and at the same time every week (one or more lessons a week). Each lesson lasts 55 minutes.
- Paired lessons: the same format, for two students of a similar level.
- Courses for companies: groups of 3 to 6 people, under a separate written agreement with the company.
Lessons take place live and online. Your plan, materials, homework and progress are in MyMEI. We match you with your tutor: you don't choose from a catalogue. We don't promise a specific result, level or certificate within a set time, because progress also depends on your attendance and your work.
2. Who can study with us
- Adults aged 21 and over.
- We take on students after a first call, and we may decline a request.
- We decide where we offer our services, at our discretion and case by case. If the rules of a country don't let us work the way we work, we don't offer the service there, or we offer it only in part: for example to private students but not to companies, or the other way round. MEI works only when it can work as MEI.
3. How the contract starts
The first call is free and creates no obligation. After the call, if we both want to go ahead, you receive the contract with your schedule, the price and all the conditions. The contract starts when you sign it and pay the first month. You can start as early as the following week.
4. Prices and payment
- Individual lessons: €35 per 55-minute lesson. Paired lessons: €24 per person, per lesson. Courses for companies: a quote for each group.
- Prices are in euros. You receive a regular invoice for every payment.
- You pay month by month, in advance, at the start of each calendar month. The month includes the lessons in your schedule: a month with five Tuesdays has five Tuesday lessons.
- If you start in the middle of a month, you pay only for the lessons left in that month.
- There are no packages and no fees to join or to leave.
- For paired lessons, the two students can pay together or separately, with separate invoices.
- If a payment is not made, we may suspend the lessons until it is.
- We may change our prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. The new price applies from the following month, and you can stop before then.
5. Your schedule
- Your lesson, or lessons, are at a fixed time every week. That regularity is the core of the service.
- You can ask to change your fixed time. We do our best, but we can't guarantee a free slot: changing often (for example every month, for shift work) may not be possible.
6. Cancelling a lesson
- You can cancel a lesson at least 24 hours before it starts. You can then reschedule it on any other day or at any other time, within 45 days.
- A lesson cancelled less than 24 hours before it starts, or missed, counts as held and is not rescheduled.
- If we have to cancel a lesson, we offer you another time. If no time suits you, we deduct the lesson from the following month or refund it.
7. Paired lessons
- The two students must have a similar level. We assess it together and tell you whether working in two is productive.
- If one student misses a lesson, the lesson goes ahead for the other one, and the absent student loses it.
- If neither student can attend, we may make an exception on request, in isolated cases. It is not automatic.
- If one student stops, we look for a new partner of a similar level. This can take from a few days to a few weeks.
8. Courses for companies
Company courses follow the written agreement with the company, which prevails over these terms where they differ. Payment is always in advance (monthly, quarterly or for the whole course, as agreed), against a company invoice. Participants with very different levels are placed in two smaller groups. Every participant has MyMEI and the tests. Short courses with a specific goal have no progress tests: at the end, participants receive a confirmation of attendance or of the goal reached. Individual data goes to the company only with the participant's explicit consent, as explained in the privacy policy.
9. Stopping
- Your commitment is month by month. To stop, send us one line by email at least three days before the end of the month, and you won't be charged for the following month.
- The lessons already paid for the current month remain yours until the end of the month. Lessons cancelled in time can still be rescheduled within 45 days.
- We can end the service at the end of a month, with notice by email. We can end it immediately if a payment is not made, or in case of abusive or disrespectful behaviour towards your tutor or our team. If we end the service for a reason that is not your fault, we refund the paid lessons not yet held.
10. MyMEI and materials
- Your MyMEI account is personal. Keep your access details safe and don't share them.
- The materials, tests and content of MyMEI and of this website belong to MEI or to its licensors. You can use them for your own learning; you may not copy, share or sell them.
- You may not record or share a lesson without the consent of MEI and of your tutor.
11. Respect
We keep a calm, friendly and professional environment, and we ask the same of our students. Abusive or disrespectful behaviour towards a tutor or our team is a reason to end the service (section 9).
12. Liability
We teach with care and professional skill. As far as the applicable law allows, our liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the event. This limit does not apply to damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, or where the law does not allow it. We are not responsible for interruptions caused by your internet connection or by events beyond our reasonable control; in those cases, we reschedule the lesson.
13. The website
The texts, images and brand of this website belong to MEI. You may not copy them for commercial purposes without our written permission.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change affects current students, we tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies. It applies from the following month, and you can stop before then.
15. Applicable law
These terms are governed by the law of the State of Wyoming, USA, and the courts of Wyoming have jurisdiction, except where a law that cannot be set aside provides otherwise. Before any dispute, write to us: we answer every complaint.
16. Language
These terms are available in several languages. If the versions differ, the English version prevails.
