How paired English lessons work
Two people, one Cambridge CELTA-qualified tutor, 55 minutes online. It's the same format as our individual English lessons: the same tutor, on the same day and at the same time every week, with a plan and every lesson's materials in MyMEI. You can take one, two or more lessons a week.
With two people, the lesson changes shape. You talk to each other, not only to the tutor. You hear the other person's mistakes and the corrections. And the tutor can build tasks for two: a discussion, a role play, a meeting you run together. The lesson is still built around speaking, and with two people you speak even more.
Lessons for two are sometimes called semi-private lessons. Ours stay much closer to individual lessons than to a group: one tutor, two people, a plan built on what both of you need, and your own progress in MyMEI.
Why learn English in a pair
The hard part of learning English as an adult isn't the grammar. It's Tuesday evening, when you're tired and there's a good reason to skip. In a pair, two people are waiting for you: your tutor, and the person you learn with. It's harder to skip, and easier to keep going.
Who learns in a pair? Partners who are moving abroad, travel a lot or simply want to share something that matters. Friends who want a fixed appointment that neither of them will skip. Colleagues who share the same English at work: the same clients, the same meetings, the same calls, so the plan can work on real situations from your job. What matters is a similar goal, and a week where the same slot works for both of you.
What paired lessons cost
Paired lessons cost €24 per person, per lesson. For the pair, one 55-minute lesson is 2 × €24. With one lesson a week, a month with four lessons is 4 × €24 each; with two lessons a week, 8 × €24 each. Month by month, with no packages.
An individual lesson costs €35. Paired lessons are not a lighter version of it, but a different format: you share the tutor's time, and you gain a second person in the conversation. If you want every minute on your own English, individual lessons are the right format. The pricing page puts the two side by side.
You pay for the calendar month in advance, at the start of the month, with a regular invoice. The pair can pay once, or each of you separately with your own invoice: as you prefer.
Before you start: two things to agree
A pair works when both people want it. Before the first call, agree on two things: why you want to learn English, and which slot you can both keep every week. Your levels don't need to be identical, but they can't be far apart: Marcus looks at this with you in the call and tells you plainly whether working as a pair will be productive. The rest, from the plan to the materials, is our job.
