WHY THIS COURSE

A job interview in English isn’t just about vocabulary

You have an English job interview coming up. Maybe for a multinational, maybe for a role with an international team, maybe for a position abroad. Whatever the case, you already know that understanding the questions won’t be enough.

English-language interviews follow precise rules — how to structure answers, what types of questions to expect, cultural expectations — that are profoundly different from what you’re used to. A technically prepared candidate who doesn’t know the format loses ground from the very first answer. Not because their English isn’t good enough. Because they don’t know what’s expected.

This course focuses on exactly that: how to present yourself, how to structure behavioural answers using the STAR method, how to handle difficult questions, how to negotiate your salary, and how to follow up professionally. Four weeks, maximum six people, real-scenario mock interviews. You’ll walk into your interview knowing exactly what to do.

You have an English job interview coming up in the next few months — multinational company, senior role, or a position abroad

You’ve never done a job interview in English and don’t know what to expect — structure, questions, register, cultural expectations

OUTCOMES

What you’ll learn in 4 weeks

Every session has a concrete goal. By the end of the course you won’t just have improved your English — you’ll know exactly how an English-language job interview works and how to approach it with precision.

01

Your Personal Pitch

How to answer “Tell me about yourself” in 60–90 seconds: structure, pacing, what to include and what to cut.

02

The STAR method

How to build precise, credible answers to behavioural interview questions, with concrete examples adapted to your sector.

03

Difficult questions

CV gaps, reasons for leaving, weaknesses, career changes. How to answer without losing credibility.

04

Salary negotiation

How to discuss compensation in English without coming across as desperate or rude. Framing, numbers, counter-offer.

05

Skills and industry language

How to describe your role, responsibilities and results with the right level of professional precision.

06

Follow-up and closing

What to ask the interviewer, how to write a professional post-interview follow-up email, how to handle the final negotiation.

PROGRAMME

8 sessions. Zero filler.

Two sessions a week for four weeks. Each session has a precise objective, materials shared before the meeting, and practical tasks to complete between sessions.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Beyond the live sessions

The real work doesn’t end when Zoom closes. Here’s what you get with every edition of the course.

Professionally curated materials

Before every session you receive materials prepared by the tutor: a phrase bank for your sector, adaptable STAR frameworks, salary negotiation scripts, and post-interview follow-up email templates. Proprietary MEI material combined with selected third-party resources. In PDF format — yours to keep, even after the course ends.

Practical assignments

Every session ends with a concrete task to complete before the next meeting: recording your pitch, writing a STAR answer based on a real professional case, drafting a follow-up email. You come to each session having already put the week’s work into practice — so class time builds on real preparation, not a cold start.

Coordinated peer-to-peer practice

Some activities between sessions are done in pairs with another participant: mock interviews, mutual review of STAR answers, cross-feedback on the personal pitch. Each pair works from a structured evaluation grid, so peer feedback stays useful and precise rather than just an informal chat.

MEI Certificate — shareable on LinkedIn

On completion you receive a formal Marcus English Institute certificate detailing the programme completed. You can add it directly to the Licences and Certifications section of your LinkedIn profile in two clicks.

WHAT PAST PARTICIPANTS SAY

Real Feedback

I had an interview coming up for a marketing manager role at a London-based company. My English was solid, but I had no idea how to structure my answers according to their expectations. After four weeks, the interview went brilliantly. They offered me the job.

Matteo R.
Marketing Manager · Milan

I didn’t think I needed a course specifically about interviews. I thought good English would be enough. I was wrong. The simulations and the STAR method completely changed how I approached difficult questions. The simulation sessions alone were worth the entire course.
