WHY THIS COURSE
A job interview in English isn’t a fluency test
You have an English job interview coming up. Maybe for a multinational, maybe for a role with an international team, maybe for a position abroad. You can hold a basic conversation in English — but the idea of a whole interview in it makes you nervous. What if you don’t understand a question? What if you freeze? What if your English simply isn’t good enough?
Here’s what actually happens to people at your level: they don’t lose the interview because their English is weak. They lose it because they walk in with nothing prepared — no set way to introduce themselves, no ready answers to the obvious questions, no polite phrase to ask someone to slow down or say it again. So the first time something catches them off guard, they freeze and never recover. Not because their English wasn’t good enough. Because they had nothing to fall back on.
This course focuses on exactly that: how to introduce yourself using a simple, reliable structure, how to prepare answers to the questions that come up in almost every interview, how to ask for a question to be repeated or rephrased without panicking, how to buy yourself a few seconds to think, and how to talk about your experience in plain, correct English. Four weeks, maximum six people, real-scenario mock interviews. You’ll walk in with a plan you can lean on — even when your English wobbles.
No automatic payment. Payment will be requested by email only after enrolment is confirmed.
Course runs with a minimum of 4 enrolees — full refund if it doesn’t go ahead.
Secure payment by bank transfer (free in the EU) or payment card (4% surcharge).
WHO IT’S FOR
This course is for you if
You have an English job interview coming up and can hold a simple conversation — but a full interview in English still feels out of reach
You understand English up to a point, and your real fear is not understanding a question, or freezing when you don’t
You can get your meaning across, but slowly — and you’re worried that won’t hold up under pressure
You’ve never done an interview in English and genuinely don’t know what to say or how to begin
You keep putting off applying for roles that need English because you don’t feel ready — and you want that to change
Minimum level required: A2+/B1. This course doesn’t teach grammar or vocabulary from scratch — it assumes you can already have a simple conversation in English. It’s built for people who aren’t fluent yet but have an interview to handle soon. Not sure about your level? Book a free 15-min call before enrolling — we’ll help you work out whether this course is right for you.
OUTCOMES
What you’ll learn in 4 weeks
Every session has a concrete goal. By the end of the course you won’t just have practised your English — you’ll know exactly what to say at each stage of an English-language interview, and you’ll have the phrases ready to say it.
01
Introducing yourself
A ready-made structure for “Tell me about yourself” that you learn once and adapt to your own story — so you never start from a blank page.
02
The questions that always come up
Prepared, adaptable answers to the handful of questions that appear in almost every interview — so you’re never caught out by the predictable ones.
03
When you don’t understand
Polite, natural phrases to ask someone to repeat or rephrase a question — instead of guessing, panicking, or pretending you understood.
04
Buying time to think
Simple phrases that give you a few seconds to organise your answer, so a pause becomes normal thinking time instead of a freeze.
05
Talking about your experience
Easy sentence patterns to describe your job, your tasks and your strengths clearly — without reaching for grammar you’re not sure of.
06
Closing well
How to ask one good question at the end, thank the interviewer, and leave a positive final impression with a short, simple follow-up.
PROGRAMME
8 sessions. Zero filler.
Two sessions a week for four weeks. Each session has a precise objective, materials shared before the meeting, and practical tasks to complete between sessions.
S 1 — The English-language interview: what you actually need (and what you don’t)
How an interview at an English-speaking company is structured, and why preparation beats fluency at this level. What recruiters really expect, the most common mistakes candidates make when they’re nervous about their English, and why a prepared structure will carry you further than “better vocabulary”. Introduction to the course format, materials, and each participant’s own goal — and the specific job they’re preparing for.
S 2 — Introducing yourself: a pitch you can rely on
The most important answer in any interview, and the one almost nobody actually prepares for. We work on the structure — past, present, future — the right length (60–90 seconds, no more), and how to make it feel authentic rather than like a talking CV. Each participant builds their own version and presents it to the group for immediate feedback.
S 3 — The questions that always come up — and ready answers
The eight or nine questions that appear in almost every interview: why you want the job, your strengths, why you’re leaving, where you see yourself. We build a simple, adaptable answer for each, using clear structures you can reuse under pressure — so the predictable questions become your easy wins.
S 4 — When you don’t understand: staying in control
The single most useful skill at this level. The natural phrases to ask for a question to be repeated, slowed down, or rephrased; how to check you’ve understood before answering; what to do when you miss one word but not the whole question. By the end you’ll know that not understanding something is a normal, recoverable moment — not the end of the interview.
S 5 — Mock interview 1 — with structured feedback
A full mock interview in pairs, with role rotation. The tutor observes, takes notes, and steps in where needed. Structured feedback at three levels: the content of your answers, clarity and pronunciation, and overall performance (pacing, staying calm, handling a question you didn’t expect). Each participant receives written feedback within 24 hours of the session.
S 6 — Talking about your job and skills in simple English
How to describe your role, your responsibilities and your results in clear, correct English — without complicated grammar. The main trap at this level is translating word-for-word from your own language, which produces sentences that sound wrong even when every word is right. We work with real examples from each participant’s actual job.
S 7 — Ending the interview: questions to ask and how to follow up
How to close well: a couple of simple, smart questions to ask the interviewer that show genuine interest, how to thank them properly, and how to write a short, correct follow-up message afterwards that keeps a good impression. Nothing elaborate — just the right words, ready to use.
S 8 — Final mock interview and individual written feedback
A full interview in real conditions — same format, same pressure, same type of questions as the real thing. The tutor conducts it as a recruiter would. Individual written feedback delivered within 24 hours, along with a personalised action plan for each participant based on what came out of the simulation.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
Beyond the live sessions
The real work doesn’t end when Zoom closes. Here’s what you get with every edition of the course.
Professionally curated materials
Before every session you receive materials prepared by the tutor: a bank of simple, ready-made answer templates for the most common interview questions, a vocabulary list for describing your job and experience in plain English, a phrase card for handling questions you don’t fully understand or need more time to answer, and a short self-introduction framework to practise and adapt to your own story. Proprietary MEI material combined with selected third-party resources. In PDF format — yours to keep, even after the course ends.
Practical assignments
Every session ends with a concrete task to complete before the next meeting: recording your self-introduction, preparing your answers to two common questions, drafting a short follow-up message. You come to each session having already put the week’s work into practice — so class time builds on real preparation, not a cold start.
Coordinated peer-to-peer practice
Some activities between sessions are done in pairs with another participant: short mock interviews using the questions you’ve prepared, checking each other’s self-introduction, and practising the phrases for asking a question to be repeated or rephrased. Each pair works from a structured checklist, so the practice stays focused and useful rather than just an informal chat.
MEI Certificate — shareable on LinkedIn
On completion you receive a formal Marcus English Institute certificate detailing the programme completed. You can add it directly to the Licences and Certifications section of your LinkedIn profile in two clicks.
Each cohort is led by one MEI tutor from our group course faculty. Your tutor is confirmed when the cohort is finalised — typically just after the registration deadline.

WHAT PAST PARTICIPANTS SAY
Real Feedback
I speak English okay, but the idea of a full interview in English terrified me. What helped most wasn’t the grammar — it was having actual phrases ready for when I didn’t understand something. I stopped panicking. I got the job!
Margherita P. Teacher · Florence
I’d never done an interview in English and had no idea where to start. By the end I had a structure for everything — how to introduce myself, how to answer the usual questions, how to buy time. I walked in prepared instead of just scared.
