HOW IT WORKS

Small groups. Real results. No filler.

Every English group course at Marcus English Institute is limited to 4–6 participants, giving you the perfect balance between personalised attention and meaningful interaction. Small group English classes ensure individual feedback in every session while creating the real-life communication dynamics needed to build confidence and fluency. All live English lessons take place on Zoom, with 90-minute sessions held twice a week.

Our English courses are designed around your specific goals and current ability, not just a generic CEFR level. Whether you’re preparing for Cambridge exams, improving your Business English for work, getting ready for a job interview, or simply looking to improve your English and speak more fluently, you’ll join a course tailored to your needs, helping you make faster, measurable progress.

Level Progression

Go up a full level in 9 months

Moving from English B1 to B2 level
B1 → B2

B1 to B2 Break Through

66 sessions · 33 weeks · 90 min · (99 hours)

For anyone stuck on the intermediate plateau — you understand plenty and you get your point across, but you’re forever simplifying what you actually want to say. Break Through closes the B1–B2 gap over a full academic year: wider grammar, real vocabulary range, and enough fluency under pressure that complexity stops being something you dodge. B2 is the level most people mean when they say “fluent”. This gets you there.

Moving from English B2 to C1 level
B2 → C1

B2 to C1 Sharpen, Refine, Command.

66 sessions · 33 weeks · 90 min · (99 hours)

For anyone who’s already good and quietly suspects it isn’t enough. People understand you fine — you just sound like a textbook, miss the idiom, and reach for the easy word instead of the exact one. This course takes you from B2 to C1 across the academic year, drilling collocation, register and nuance until “correct” turns into “effortless”. C1 is where English stops being a language you perform and becomes one you own.

Level 1

16 sessions · 8 weeks · 90 min · (24 hours)

Speak Up
Level 2

16 sessions · 8 weeks · 90 min · (24 hours)

For anyone who can hold a conversation in English but knows — and feels — that something still isn’t right. The vocabulary is there. The grammar, mostly. What’s missing is automaticity: the ability to speak without mentally translating, to respond without pausing to construct, to sound like someone who actually thinks in English. Six weeks of dense, immersive speaking practice to close that gap.

Common questions about our group courses

What’s the difference between a group course and a private lesson?

Group courses are structured programmes with a fixed syllabus, a cohort of peers at the same level, and a defined outcome. They’re ideal for building a specific skill quickly and affordably alongside others working on the same goal. Private lessons are more flexible and fully personalised — better suited for ongoing development, exam preparation at a specific pace, or professional needs that don’t fit a group format. Many students do both: a group course to build a skill, then private lessons to refine it.

How do I know which level is right for me?

Every course lists its minimum and maximum level. If you’re unsure, book a free Chemistry Call before enrolling — we’ll have a short conversation in English to assess your speaking level accurately and confirm which course fits. Self-assessment is unreliable for speaking skills, and an incorrect placement affects the whole group, so we take this seriously.

What happens if the course doesn’t reach the minimum number of participants?

Courses run with a minimum of 4 enrolled participants. If a cohort doesn’t reach that number by the enrolment deadline, the course is postponed and all participants receive a full refund immediately. You can then enrol in the next available edition.

Are the courses entirely online?

Yes. All courses run fully online via Zoom. You receive the session link 24 hours before each meeting. No download required — Zoom works directly in the browser. A stable internet connection and a working microphone are the only requirements.

Who teaches the courses?

All MEI tutors hold the Cambridge CELTA qualification and have a minimum of 10 years’ experience teaching professional English to adults. Group courses are led by tutors from our faculty who specialise in the relevant skill area. Your tutor is confirmed when the cohort is finalised, typically 2–3 weeks before the start date.

Do the courses include a certificate?

All courses include a formal Marcus English Institute completion certificate, detailing the programme covered. This can be added to the Licences and Certifications section of your LinkedIn profile. For Cambridge FCE and CAE, the official Cambridge qualification is obtained separately by sitting the exam with an authorised test centre — the course prepares you for it.

How does payment work?

You submit an enrolment request via the individual course page. Within 24 hours you’ll receive an email. No payment is taken automatically. The course is confirmed once the minimum number of participants have enrolled and paid. Full refund if the course isn’t confirmed.
