WHY THIS COURSE

Your English is fine. Your presentations are forgettable.

You present in English regularly. You don’t need a script, you handle your slides, people follow you without difficulty. Nobody complains. And nothing much happens either: no real questions, no push-back, no decision. The talk was perfectly clear, and it didn’t land.

Past B1, the constraint stops being language and becomes rhetoric. You default to a flat, neutral register, because it’s the one you fully control. You state information instead of building an argument. You explain the chart rather than using it to make a claim. And when a difficult question arrives, you answer it accurately and at length, which is frequently the worst available option. None of that is an English problem. It’s a problem of what you can do with your English.

This course works on the layer above fluency: narrative, emphasis, register, persuasion, and controlled Q&A. Four weeks, maximum six people, you present in every session on your own real material — the pitch, the board update, the conference talk — and you’ll be pushed hard in the questions afterwards. That’s the part nobody practises, and it’s the part that decides how the presentation is remembered.

Minimum level required: B1+/B2. This course does not cover basic grammar, general vocabulary or presentation fundamentals — it assumes you can already deliver a presentation in English and want it to be considerably more effective. Every session has a concrete goal. By the end of the course you won’t just have improved your English — you’ll know how to make an audience in English agree with you, and how to stay in control when they don’t.

Narrative and argument

How to answer “Tell me about yourself” in 60–90 seconds: structure, pacing, what to include and what to cut.

Emphasis and rhetorical devices

How to build precise, credible answers to behavioural interview questions, with concrete examples adapted to your sector.

Register and audience

CV gaps, reasons for leaving, weaknesses, career changes. How to answer without losing credibility.

Data as argument

Turning a chart into a claim: what to say about a number, what to leave on the slide, and what to cut entirely.

Q&A under pressure

Hostile questions, vague questions, questions that are really objections. Reframing, keeping answers short, and the “I don’t know” that protects your credibility instead of damaging it.

Improvisation

When you lose twenty minutes, when the slides fail, when someone senior walks in halfway through. Speaking from structure rather than from memory.

Professionally curated materials

Before every session you receive materials prepared by the tutor: a rhetorical device reference with worked examples drawn from real presentations, a register-switching template showing the same content rewritten for a board, a client and a team, a Q&A reframing guide for hostile, vague and off-topic questions, and improvisation frameworks to deliver from structure when you lose the slides, the time, or both. Proprietary MEI material combined with selected third-party resources. In PDF format — yours to keep, even after the course ends.

Practical assignments

Every session ends with a concrete task to complete before the next meeting: recording a five-minute segment of a real presentation, rewriting the same opening for three different audiences, preparing answers to the three questions you least want to be asked.

Coordinated peer-to-peer practice

Some activities between sessions are done in pairs with another participant: adversarial Q&A rounds where each person questions the other from a prepared briefing sheet, plus cross-feedback on structure and emphasis. The tutor pairs participants and provides a structured evaluation grid — so peer feedback becomes useful and precise, not just an informal chat.
